In 1937 the Argentinian Society of Cardiology (SAC) is created in Buenos
Aires, being the first institution of the speciality that existed in the
country. It joined the cardiologists of Buenos Aires and some of the
provinces, in which the reduced number did not justify the creation and
functionality of local societies.
Progressively, the numbers of specialists increased and consequently, local
societies were created, that began to develop their scientific activities in
an autonomous way. A notable progress in the development of the cardiology
was possible, and highlighted figures of great prestige arised, some of whom
were well-known all over the world.
In 1964, thanks to Society of Cardiology of the Northwest, the "Primeras
Jornadas Nacionales de Cardiologia" were organized, with the name of Dr. Luis
Gonzalez Sabathie, eminent cardiologist from Rosario city (prov. of Santa Fe),
who died before it. This meeting was carried out in Salta city, 14-17 August,
1964.
In those circumstances, cardiologists of different provinces and some from
Buenos Aires, decided to request to the SAC, an even more participation in
the organ of conduction and in all of its activities.
In order to get an agreement, several meetings were carried out.
After many requests with a negative response in all of them, the
Argentinian Federation of Cardiologia was created, in Villa Carlos
Paz, Córdoba, in November 1965.
