Abstract: In the northern-center area of Entre Rios, Argentina, the native forest occupies a role of importance in the agricultural productive systems, presenting deterioration signs provoked by the dismantle and the traditional management of the cattle, altering its structure and composition. The present work has as objective to define the agroecosystems and to characterize its state through agroecological indicators for the cattle-agricultural area.

Investigation projects referred to productive systems taken as models for the environment characterization and agroecosystems are considered to obtain a first approach for the classification of its state. These indicators are function of the degree of deterioration, according to the erosion and the weeding. The agroecosystems were defined like closed high forest (jungle forest), open high forest, closed low forest, open low forest, straw, flood grassland of height, forest plantation, young forest, agricultural cultivation, cultivated pasture and naturalized grassland.

The characterization of agroecosystems through landscape is a rapid tool to know its condition and to value the information for taking of decisions of the sustainable managment of natural resources of the region.

Key Words: agroecosystems - center north Entre Rios – classification – landscape - erosion – weedly

Abstract: This work evaluates the availability of the surface water resources for an area in the province of Entre Ríos formed by the towns of Paraná, Diamante, Victoria and Nogoyá. This surface is part of an area in which the largest production of corn and oilseed in the province takes place, and the water resource is intended to be used for complementary irrigation. The identification has already been considered and the physical characteristics of the main basins an sub basins that make up the area have been specified by means of a study of the hydrological index: compactness rates, average slope of the main water course, drainage density and number of order. Daily rainfalls occurring between 1989-1998 have been analyzed and a mathematical estimate is done in order to determine the annual average volumes of runoff and temporary variations.

Key words: Surface water resources - Complementary irrigation – Physical characteristics - Hydrological index

Abstract: This work was performed to study the effect of corn and soybean residues applied to a Typic Argiudoll in an incubation experiment carried out at 30ş C and 75 % of soil water retention on phosphorus availability. Bray 1 available Phosphorus was determined at 0 – 30 – 60 – 90 and 120 days. Phosphorus immobilization was higher at 30 and 90 days with soybean and corn respectively. Extractable P presented an increase of 34 % and 16 % with soybean and corn respectively at the end of the experiment.

Key words: Phosphorus – Maize – Soybean – Crop residues

Abstract: In the last year Nova tangerine hybrid a Clementine tangerine and Orlando tangelo got same expansion on the Uruguay River citrus area. The trees have a good agronomy performance, are productive of high quality and the export is the principal utilization. The experiment was carried out in the EEA INTA Concordia during 1995/96 and 1996/97 to know the performance Nova tangerine in different storage temperature conditions. The temperatures were 5 and 9 °C with waxed and unwaxed coating fruit. The wax was a water-wax with 10% total solids. The results were not different between the temperatures. The storage life depend on the initial quality, the physiological disorders (stem-end rind breakdown, chilling injury) and post harvest diseases. The increase the sugar: acid ratio limits the storage life, too. Besides, waxing reduces shrinkage due to water loss and the post harvest diseases.

Keywords: physiological disorders, storage, waxing, Nova tangerine, post harvest diseases.

Universidad de Talca, Casilla 747, Talca, Chile

Resumen: Chilean growers have introduced tobacco transplants production in floating system recently due to the need of using sterilised substrates instead of Methyl bromide, which is a toxic sterilising agent and therefore it will not be available in a near future. Thus, the floating system is an alternative method to producing tobacco transplants. The technical requeriments for getting an optimal transplant production, substrates selection, nutrient solutions and waterbed management are discussed in this article.

Keywords: seedling, floating system, substrate, tobacco.
